A new day!

Just arrived in the magical city of Denver, Colorado! It's quite a bit different from Las Vegas, but I crazy fell in love with it the second that I arrived. Just driving my car through those green hills, looking across the horizon at the mountains.. crazy gorgeous. I feel like I need to invest in a camera to take pictures of all the stuff that I see.

Anyway, as of today, I'm fully launching the vehicle wraps las vegas website. I don't know how long it's going to take me to get the site popular. I've already talked with my buddy who does car wraps, and he's more than happy to have more business. We'll see if I can work my magic and help him out :). For the next few months, this blog will likely center on my work with him.

Acting has been slow going for the last year. I had to relocate to Freeport to help out with my grand father's care. Being that there's a whole 25,000 people in that town, it was pretty dead for anything entertainment based. I did do a small stand-up set once, but it bombed pretty badly with that audience. Now that I'm in Denver, I should hopefully get about the same amount of work that I did in Las Vegas.

Anyway, I need to head off for now. Expect more posts about vinyl wraps and acting stuff soon!

"Girl On Top", Casted.

A quicky comedic short about a quicky, Haha. Spiro wanted to sneak this in before the spring flicks deadline. So we shoot.. tomorrow? It's just a small 2-3 minute film, so we'll probably only need a few hours to finish it all. And I can work it around the "Closure" rehearsals since it's just me and another actress.

"Closure", Day 3

This role is getting hard for me, or is it easy? The first two days I didn't add enough intensity to Ethan - it didn't feel real, as I had never had someone I cared about THAT MUCH die before. During the read through it was like everyone was staring at me and shaking their heads. The director wasn't pleased with the choices that I made and told me to work on it some more. I hated that, I couldn't accept that. So I spent the last 24 hours digging deep into Ethan's objectives, finding substitutions for the other characters, and crossing them with emotions via Chubbuck's method. And after all that, I found what I needed through songs. Now.. it's a beast. I'm in his shoes. I feel his struggle. And doing my mini-rehearsal today left people jaw dropped. That felt good. I felt so good about that.

However, calling on these images and feelings inside me is taxing. I didn't intend to do things this way, however I think it's probably best in order to bring out the raw emotion of the character. I just don't know how many times I can do it - both as me handling it, and as it appearing real. At some point this raw feeling may dry up, so I don't want to call on it too much during rehearsal. I also have been having those dreams again (like Ethan, Ha), and it's making my mornings a mess. I guess I should be happy about that, as this could be my best role yet. I just hate missing my past when there's so much happening in the present.

I don't know if we'll be able to record this in time, or if it's going to feel too rushed. The full rehearsals begin tomorrow and will happen everyday until Sunday. However, the hard copy of the final product needs to be turned in within the next two weeks. I'd love to have this thing go to Spring Flicks, as it then opens the film up to some of the other film festivals, which means more IMDB credit - Yay! It also means exposure at UNLV, so I may pick up a few projects in the fall from some of the new directors seeing me. Although even if I don't meet some new friends, I still have the sitcom to film in the fall as well as Spiro's feature length film. That thing is going to be a monster to work on. The longest film I've done so far was 17 pages. Spiro's? 109.

Time to walk and get some sun. I'm a pale mofo right now. Can't be albino for this film.

"Closure", Day 2

I'm debating on how to play certain sections of this script. It's hard to figure out the intensity without having the other actors present to know how they intend to play their roles. I think I may tone it down a bit at first and try that, and if it doesn't fly I can easily crank the nob higher. I also have no idea who the girlfriend is played by. The only people I saw at the audition near my scheduled time was Megan (who already told me she wasn't casted), and this kung fu girl (who Brandon said got one of the other roles - and is also scary.) I'm a wee bit nervous.. I haven't done a romantic'ish role since Party of Doom (and that didn't really count XD.) And I haven't done a train wreck role since David (which I was only decent at.) Playing both in the same film? This'll be some pretty work. Ah well, time to pee into the wind.

"Closure", Day 1

Just got the script and it looks like a pretty piece of fun. It's a bit more artsy than it was described to me, however I think I'll have a lot of fun working on this one. Our first read through is tomorrow already, and we have Aubrey's Birthday party tonight, so I don't have much time to work on it. However the director has set aside a whole week to rehearse and tweak the script, so I should have enough time to play through this by the time we begin filming. I'm curious how he's going to do some of the special effects in this. For now, I need to make a trip to the store to buy a little fluff juice.

Bwahaha.

"Mensia", Audition.

Well, that was crazy. I decided not to do a monologue for this one so that I could get more experience with cold reading. I figure.. might as well iron it out as much as I can while doing student films. However, they forgot the sides. They sent someone to go get them from their home, but unfortunately I didn't have much time available to wait around :(. So I pretty much improv'ed something, then left. Perhaps I should keep a monologue on the back burner just in case.. This is probably for the best anyway, as I don't know what kind of shooting schedule there is for "Closure", and I imagine these guys are trying to get into Spring Flicks as well. Time be short for that.
